a life without love is like a year without summer.

it certainly has been a while, and i apologise. my blog has not been very hectic lately and i am not going to come up with any excuses. buut it has been crazy over here, after easter school just threw a new bunch of exciting assignments my way and i have mini-mock exams in just a couple of weeks. so if i was going to have an excuse it would be that. and i know i promised you more photos of my daily life and they are coming.
only four more weeks until i get a long break and then just try to keep me off my blog! i swear, you just try.
 -smiles-

i have, however, had some time to shop. and you know as well as i do, that no matter how hectic life gets, there is always some time left over to shop. summer is just around the corner which means new styles, new places and new people. and with all this, you must look your best of course. so my absoloute wants for the summer are these little lovely things:

and i actually got the mustard shoes, because i just could not resist. but sometimes summer can also mean new experiences which i am looking forward to. so i hope all is well with all of you and that youre enjoy the heat which will hopefully rise as the months go by.
word of advice: get out there and sunbathe! summer is here and we need to tan those legs to look good in our shorts and skirts. -winks- im getting ready for summer by going to the hair-dressers tomorrow, just filling in the little blonde bits trying to come out again. as for that, i think that this week you should treat yourself with something. nothing big or expensive. just a little something that shouts that you are ready for summer.

have a lovely week!

one’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things

i am off! in half an hour i am off to the airport and then on to a plane that will take me to spain. i was hoping yesterday that i could post one more post before i went to bed, but the packing took extra long. lets just say it was a complete mess. and im normally a very organized person. so instead i am sitting at the computer at 4.30 in the morning trying to not abandon my blog.

but anyhow, i will be gone for a week so im sorry beforehand for my lack of posts. when i get back i will bombard you with them. -smiles-
hope you have a lovely week and i promise when i get back there will be lots and lots of photos. i guess ill also throw in a good morning to you all! hopefully youre not up at the computer at this time, if you were id be a teensy bit worried about you. so if you are: go to bed! if you are not, hope you wake up on the right side this fine morning.
oh also, when packing i was wondering what other people (women mostly) pack in their handbags when going on a plane... if you want to share with me what you bring, i think that would be tres lovely of you.

speak to you in a week!

a good photograph stops a moment from running away

can you say huzzah? huzzah! i got my camera back, she is is all fixed and she is as perfect as ever. is it only me but do you name your objects? i do it because it helps me understand the object better and i form some kind of bond, so it has a special meaning to me. my dear camera that just came back from the repair shop is named omoide. omoide in japanese means memories and i feel that omoide does this perfectly and i couldnt ask for a better camera. it is my fault that she broke.

a part from all that crazy talk, it is a monday. a nice and very warm monday. first monday of the year that it was boiling hot and extremely sunny. twas quite pleasant. i had a very short day today, and hopefully aced my history exam. and then on thursday im off to espanga! which is going to be nothing but relaxing, soaking in culture, swimming and taking lots of lots of photos with omoide and maybe even my diana camera. i promise this. -smiles-

sorry if my blog posts are getting a bit snoozy but i promise i will have outfit posts and recipe posts etc. now! promise and so does omoide. and to compensate i will upload some photos that i took with omoide last summer in rome. so sit tight darlings!

sunday smiles

i am sorry for the lack of photos, my camera is currently being repaired, which saddens me a lot. if i did have my camera i would have taken photos of the carrotcake i made for my mums birthday. it turned out perfect! so when i can take photos i will make another one and post the recipe on here. it is definitely worth making! -smiles-
so if i cant post my own photos, i will post some photos that brought smiles to my study sunday.

where words fail, music speaks.

im trying to get into the whole "one post everyday" kinda thing. sadly my life right now is at a kind of stand still so coming up with ideas for my posts is quite difficult. i want this blog to be about fashion (mostly vintage), inspiration, small town treasures, daily life things. so i will certainly strive to create this so from now on my posts will be fascinating and mind-blowing! excited? i certainly am. -smiles-

but unfortunately today, another day of studying is ahead of me. so i thought to make this post a little more interesting i might post some songs that i am in LOVES with at the moment. and some study music that helps me with all the stress. i hope your wednesday is going a bit better than mine and that you have lovely weather outside.
enjoy it for me!

poe's playlist:
-  you’re the one that I want - angus and julia stone
- hope there’s someone - anthony and the johnsons
- let me go - cake
- thieves - she & him
- sons and daughters - the decemberists
- brand new start - little joy

these are just some of many that i love. and i will bring you plenty more.

nothing will work unless you do.

i have been extremely busy lately and this always happens beginning of april, there is no explanation for it. but im very stressed, have loads of essays and assignments due in the next couple of weeks and not small ones, no sir: long tedious mind-boggling essays that make me want to drop out of school and become alex supertramp. however, i need to get my head out of the clouds and focus focus focus on my work. the sun disappeared and its now raining again. i doubt sun will peak its head out of the clouds anytime soon, the rain seems pretty happy to stay. im not going to complaining since if it was sunny outside, the concentration i have (which is not much) will go out the window and i will head straight out the door to bask in the sunlight.

so right now im content with staying inside and studying whilst thinking of a better time. i am, however, thankful for the coffee which is keeping me up, elvis costello for keeping me entertained and my cats which are motivating me with their purrs. if you are also stuck inside studying, just know that you are not alone.
and to make your study coffee burst with flavors, here is a little hint: add some cinnamon and nutmeg. its healthy which means you dont need sugar to make your coffee a little less bitter. i love music when studying but it saddens me to admit that i cannot concentrate whilst listening to music. i sing, chant, hum, mime until my voice is gone and i realize that ive gotten no work done. little hint: nonetheless, a little bit of study break music is allowed and it calms me down when im freaking out about not having done enough. we all deserve a bit of a break sometimes, when working as hard as we do. -wink-
and as for the cat thing, little hint: i strongly advise you to go out and get one, preferably one who will help you with your studying. they are very rare to find, but if you keep looking, im sure youll find one. they are so worth it.

have a lovely week!

a day without sunshine is like, you know, night.

oh the sun. worshiped by so many throughout the worlds history and still is. strangely,  i think im finally starting to understand why. as soon as the sun peeks its head around the clouds, i see children laughing, jolly walkers, grinning adults and this must be, because of the sun. i am sure of this because i live in a place where the sun rarely shows itself and people are miserable 24/7. except of course, when the sun comes out.
i love my town though because the minute we see a glimpse of the sun, women rush for their sun-hats, men rush for their sunglasses and children run for their beach buckets. yes, they are getting way ahead of themselves but it truly is adorable and it makes me appreciate what i see when i walk home.

i am, however, a winter person and i always will be. it doesnt make me a depressed person because remember that the sun peers out at winter too! not just during the summers. but i cannot complain about summer coming when i see that the people around me become so happy. it warms my heart to see them get so excited by the rays of light shining down on this glum town. so i want to thank you sun or as the ancient egyptians called it (ra), for making this week full of laughter, chatting and lots and lots of smiles. it certainly makes me overjoyed.
